The Village Never Fails!

The village never fails!!

You’ve heard the addage “it takes a village to raise a child.” Well I submit it takes the village to save a life.

See, there’ll come a time when life will deal you the kind of blow that sucks the air out of your lungs giving fear the kind of foothold that defuncts faith. But thank goodness for the village: the women (and men) who labor with you, speak life into and over you. The village doesn’t spectate, it participates. It doesn’t fight fair, cause it recognizes that when life hangs in the balance all bets are off. These folks heave you into the cleft of their shoulders and march you outta the pit you stumbled into. A sword in one hand and the small of your back pressed against the other, willing you to keep pushing.

I got you. It’s gon’ be okay. It’s cloudy now but the sun is on its way. Keep moving. Keep pushin’.  You’re not alone. I’ve got you.

They’re old souls who know a thing or two about overcoming something and reaching back to help someone else. It’s your ride or die, come hell or high water, I got your back and we coming out of this together ‘cause I am your keeper and you are mine! The kind of folks who travail in flesh and in spirit until your ache breaks, until your can’t bends and your promise breaks through like the dawn of a new day whose shine will not be dulled.

Friends, there is power, strength and safety in the village. There is rest, encouragement and hope in the village. There is breath and life and reciprocity in the village. Never feel like you have to go it alone.

As always,

Aww. You’re most welcome sister! 😍😍 And thank you for reminding me I’ve got work to do. I’ve got words to write and hope to share. I promise, I’ll be better and do better with both.

      Have a splendid day!
